For the last twelve years Soundabout has been training staff in special needs settings to use sound and music to create meaningful opportunities for communication for a wide range of young people. We are now delighted to launch the Soundabout Education Centre where professionals who work with young people with learning difficulties can develop their own knowledge and skills.
The Soundabout Education Centre offers practical and theoretical seminars in which teachers and their support staff can further their understanding of the role that sound and music can play in developing creative communication. Here they have the opportunity to learn and develop new techniques to help them meet the many challenges of the classroom environment. The seminars are also a time for meeting peers, sharing experiences, skills and information.
The seminars are held in the beautiful setting of Thomley Barn, just outside Oxford. The converted medieval barn and its pretty sensory garden are surrounded by fields full of hares and soaring red kites. It is the perfect, peaceful place to study, share and make music.
