Soundabout's doors are open to all children and young people who have severe and complex learning difficulties. Through making music we help them develop their ability to communicate and interact with the world around them – and have a lot of fun along the way!
We offer young people with their families and carers regular Saturday music sessions which encourage absolutely everyone to join in in their own way. Whatever sound someone makes, it's music, and it's very exciting for young people who do not often have much control over things to have the chance to influence the way the music flows and make as much noise as they like. Soundabout’s methods are designed specifically to encourage interaction, build relationships and bring the joy of participation to everyone. Whatever’s going on, it's always very lively!
Many families have been joining us regularly for years now and love the chance for the whole family to do something together in an atmosphere where they can let their hair down and relax. They have made firm friends with Soundabout and each other, and enjoy getting together over refreshments once the music making is done.
