The best course I’ve been on. [It] really made me rethink my practice

Soundabout uses music to unlock the potential of people with severe learning disabilities and autism. One of the ways we do this is through our programme of training. Soundabout works in partnership with Music Services, Music Hubs, Special Schools and Specialist units within mainstream schools to provide bespoke learning opportunities for teachers and school staff. The training is developed with the organisation, to determine the needs and requirements of the staff and to develop a package of teaching and learning that will enable staff to work effectively with children and adults with severe and profound learning disabilities.

On Site or Off Site?

Soundabout training can take place in your own premises involving the staff and the students themselves. An essential feature of Soundabout’s training is the modelling of Soundabout’s methods within the classroom, demonstrating how the approach can benefit each of your pupils individually.

Regular training sessions also takes place at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Session and booking information can be found on Seminar Dates page.

Training is available for early years, primary and secondary schools, colleges and other post 16 setting including adult care providers.

Further details about the content of some of our training seminars can be found on our Foundation Modules & Soundabout Modules page. This list is not exhaustive. We can work flexibly with you to develop a bespoke training package that will suit your staff needs.

As well as our specialist training, Soundabout has also been able to work with schools to offer music making opportunities for pupils and their families.
