Soundabout community sessions have been nominated to receive vital support from the Aviva Community Fund 2018. The project will fund 12 music making sessions for children and adults with severe learning disabilities across multiple venues throughout Oxfordshire.

Our specialist practitioners use music, sound, touch and visual stimuli to create an engaging, multisensory experience for the participants, carers and family attending. All the music-making sessions will be playful, intuitive and enable each person to join in at a level that suits them.

In combination, Soundabout aims to work in partnership with local schools, disability and arts organisations to provide more inclusive performance opportunities for profoundly disabled people. Through this initiative, we hope to promote and make music accessible to everyone. For BBC Music Day 2018, participants of all abilities from Soundabout were joined by the Jericho Singers for a relaxed ‘jamming session’ at Didcot Parkway station.
