Song Explorers

Song Explorers is a group for Soundabout Choir members with profound and multiple disabilities or complex support needs.

Song Explorers meet for fortnightly online sessions with a Soundabout practitioner. The group focuses on the same songs as the main choir sessions, but explores them in a more tailored way.

One of the key aims of Song Explorers is to ensure that all Soundabout Choir members can take part in, make the most of and enjoy the main Soundabout Choir rehearsals.

We feel part of something with Soundabout

‘Lydia absolutely loves the Song Explorers! I know she can’t tell me but it’s so obvious by how animated she is. She totally recognises the Hello Song and gets very excited, swishing from side to side! It’s a lovely hour that we can spend together, totally focused on music making. I would never do that if we were not part of this group.

‘It is wonderful to feel part of a community and we have made friends. All too often we are unable to participate in events and activities, but we feel part of something with Soundabout and it helps us feel less isolated.

‘We have attended the Soundsbout Choir sessions too but the Song Explorers Group is fantastic for Lydia. Breaking the songs down, making it much more accessible and sensory for her. It’s just a wonderful group and we really really hope it continues!’
