At Soundabout, we CAN Carnival

At Soundabout, we focus on what individuals CAN do and follow their lead. This is the basis upon which we formed I Can Carnival: Soundabout’s Online Music Festival. 

Over 60 Soundabouters tuned in on 25th July, where they took part in carnival activities from brass band performances to drumming workshops and sensory stories. Each activity had music and sensory exploration at its heart, and was designed to be accessible for Learning Disabled people with complex support needs.

Soundabouters from all over took part in I Can Carnival from their own homes, hospices, or hospital beds. Check out some of the fantastic carnival colours and outfits!

One of the highlights of the day was a workshop by the Soundabout New Orleans Brass Band.

A family member described I Can Carnival as ‘just what we needed to cheer us up, especially M, as she’s still fighting a chest infection so lovely to see her so engaged with you all. She loves every one of you.’
