Creating New Training Tools For Soundabout Practitioners
Last month, Soundabout hosted two inspiring days at Beaulieu Community Centre in Essex, bringing together practitioners Karen and Will, a small group of Soundabout families, and the film and visual media team from Big Picture.
Across the two days, our practitioners led a series of engaging music-making activities, showcasing a variety of inclusive techniques and approaches. Families collaborated with Karen and Will to demonstrate the many ways that they connect, communicate and interact through music, all beautifully captured by the film crew.
The footage gathered by Big Picture is now being edited and will form the foundation of new training materials and resources. These will highlight Soundabout’s tools and techniques in action, supporting future practitioners in their music-making work.
Beyond the filming, the event was a meaningful opportunity to spend time in person with Essex families who are very involved in our online programmes and passionate champions of Soundabout. Their energy and creativity made the two days truly special.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and who helped create such memorable music-making moments. We’re looking forward to seeing how the training materials now develop, which we hope to launch later next year.
