Local businessman to run London Marathon in aid of Soundabout
Frazer Mackay, Operations Director for Milton-Park based company Crowcon which specialises in the development of flammable and toxic gas detection equipment, will be running 26.2 miles across London on 28 April to raise vital funds for local music and disability charity Soundabout, based at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot.
Frazer, who lives in Finstock near Charlbury, discovered Soundabout through his son’s school (CCCS), who decided to partner with the charity to raise funds for their new Inclusive Choir, which launched in Oxford earlier this month.
Soundabout uses music and sound to unlock the potential of people of all ages with profound learning disabilities and empowers their teachers and families to do the same.
Frazer said, “I’ve chosen to run the London Marathon for Soundabout as it’s a fantastic, heart-warming local charity that offers the power and happiness that comes through communication; something we can all to easily take for granted. Working at Milton Park, Soundabout is also on the doorstep of many of my work colleagues, which I think is important when you are asking for people’s support.”
He continued “I have a target, and it’s simply to run it in a time that starts with a 3 (so 3:59:59 would do that!). The training is going well, but it is hard work, and I am currently up to 21 miles – and that feels hard enough, before even considering that I will need to run 5(.2) more miles on the day. It is lovely to run in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside though.”
