Driving Change With Youth Music

Earlier this month, Youth Music released their landmark report, Excluded By Design, highlighting the persistent barriers Disabled children, young people, and adults face in accessing the arts, creative education, and employment.

We are proud that Soundabout Families played a vital role in helping to shape this report. Through insightful consultation sessions led by our Family Support Coordinator, Rebecca Tunley, and CEO, Holly Radford-James, families shared lived experiences that helped to define a bold set of access principles, and drive the call for the changes that the report seeks to create.

Youth Music are now launching #ShiftTheScene, a £2.25 million fund, to improve access to the arts and creative education for Disabled children and young people, and drive genuine inclusion across all art forms. The fund opens in October 2025, and fund criteria will be released on 1st October.

This is a pivotal moment for creative inclusion, and we’re honoured to have played a part in it.
