Graduate Emerging Leader supports London Youth Choir SEN Sing and Shine Session
On Wednesday 18 February, London Youth Choirs hosted their first Sing and Shine session in Wembley – a free, relaxed workshop designed for SEN and Learning Disabled young people aged 7 to 23, together with their families and primary carers. We’re incredibly proud that one of our Graduate Emerging Leaders was commissioned through Soundabout to support, collaborate, and help deliver the session alongside London Youth Choir’s Music Leader team.
Our Emerging Leaders programme is an innovative initiative supporting Learning Disabled young people to become the next generation of creative professionals. At a time when Learning Disabled people remain significantly underrepresented in the creative workforce, this commission from London Youth Choirs is a powerful example of the meaningful employment pathways now opening for our graduates.
Other recent commissions from the programme reflect this growing momentum. One graduate was engaged to conduct an access consultation at Clent Hills, linked to our outdoor music and nature programme Sounds Wild. Another was commissioned to help model elements of our music‑making training programme with staff at Silverwood School.
These opportunities demonstrate the vital contribution our Emerging Leaders are making in shaping more inclusive, accessible practice for the future.
