Soundabout Secures a National Lottery Community Fund Grant

We are delighted to share that Soundabout has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund. This funding will enable us to continue delivering our much-loved Sounds Together music sessions in Birmingham, which are now secured until January 2028.

Our Sounds Together sessions are an opportunity for Learning Disabled people of all ages with complex support needs, to make music with others in community spaces. Facilitated by two specialist Soundabout practitioners, the music in each session is shaped by the interests, choices, and creativity of the group.

We know just how valuable these sessions are to our community. Parents and carers have shared:

‘This project was phenomenal! It was very engaging and stimulating for my daughter.’

and

‘We can really see how this interaction and socialising with others is really helping O to progress.’

Thanks to this support from the National Lottery Community Fund, we can now further develop and strengthen our Sounds Together sessions in the West Midlands, where playfulness, fun, choice making, self-expression, and connections with others is at the heart of it all.

We look forward to sharing more updates for our Birmingham programme, which has been made possible thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund’s recognition of Soundabout’s unique approach. A heartfelt thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund for helping us to ensure that these sessions can continue to grow from strength to strength.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to welcome you. Join us to explore music, connection, and self-expression through a variety of instruments and multi-sensory items at one of our upcoming sessions:
