Sheldonian Theatre Success

On 23rd March 2023 Soundabout’s Oxford and Beyond Choir performed as special guests in a concert at The Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford. St Peter’s College Choir from Oxford were also special guests during the performance. Soundabout was invited to join The Body Percussion Ensemble who were touring the UK and had travelled all the way from Japan.

The Soundabout choir sang a ‘Hello’ song to welcome everyone to the event. They then performed “It’s Alright” and were joined by the other groups for a performance of “Do, Re, Mi”.

The joyous event led to some lovely feedback from Soundabout choir members, including;

“I should just congratulate everyone involved in the most brilliant, life-affirming concert we have ever, ever been to! We had such an amazing time last evening! It was so wonderful to meet musicians from totally different worlds to our own! My goodness it was so joyous! ‘X’ got so much out of it. He’s on a real high. Three of his support assistants from his day centre came to watch and they were blown away by all of it. They absolutely loved to see ‘X’ shine, and were bowled over by the appearance of The Cow! Thank you for all the thought and care you took into organising and arranging it. We all felt so comfortable and happy, and it was lovely to meet other parents and carers face to face – oh, and all of you and the choristers, of course!
Thanks again. We’re all exhausted today, but in a Very Good Way!”

The Body Percussion Ensemble very kindly used the event to fundraise for Soundabout by collecting donations during the event. The Soundabout choir members were also treated to hand made origami gifts in a wonderful gesture of kindness and generosity.Row of singers performing in a choir.
