Together, we did it! Over £21,000 raised for Soundabout during the Small Charity Week Big Give.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to Soundabout during the Small Charity Week Big Give campaign from 23–30 June 2025! Thanks to your incredible generosity, we not only met but exceeded our fundraising target — raising an amazing £21,121 in total. We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support shown.
Every pound raised through the Big Give will go directly towards Soundabout’s mission: supporting Learning Disabled people with complex support needs across the UK through the power of music. Because of you, we can continue creating joyful, inclusive musical experiences for incredible individuals like Simran:
Simran is a musical 19-year-old from Birmingham with complex support needs. Her smile lights up every Soundabout session. With the support of our dedicated practitioners, she has flourished – performing and creating beautiful musical moments through in-person programmes like Sounds Together and Sounds Wild.
Before joining Soundabout, it was difficult for Simran’s family to find fully accessible activities where Simran could make friends and feel included. Now, through music, she communicates, connects, and thrives. Her communicative vocalisations through music are a powerful form of expression and a special thing to see. Soundabout activities have helped Simran to make friends, to communicate with others, and to access activities that she loves and enjoys. Her journey is a testament to the impact of inclusive music-making.
Simran’s mum, Jaspreet, shared this touching message:
“I think what Simran gets from Soundabout, it is just the fact that she is part of something as well. She’s part of a community, everybody knows her, she understands who’s there, she picks up on all you’re providing, all the other [participants], and it’s the fact that, even though they all have different needs, they can all work together to create something so amazing. That is what is so important… I think the fact that she is able to communicate through music with other people, like you know she has made friends there and things like that, I think that is just amazing.”
The Small Charity Week Big Give campaign — launched by Big Give, Global’s Make Some Noise, and NCVO — matched donations made to Soundabout during the week, up to £10,000, doubling the impact of every gift. We’re proud to have been part of this inaugural initiative alongside other small charities doing vital work across the UK.
