Spreading the Soundabout Spirit in Birmingham
On Friday 20 June, our Families Support Coordinator, Rebecca, and our Volunteer Coordinator, Natalie, joined Learning Disability Week celebrations at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Hosting a vibrant stall, they connected with hospital staff, families, and local organisations—raising awareness of Soundabout’s work and volunteer opportunities.
Natalie told us that:
“Despite living a short bus ride from the QE, and my son Archie being born next door, it’s a hospital I haven’t been in before. It was brilliant to meet the Vulnerabilities Team and to learn about how they support patients with learning disabilities.
It was great to spend the day with Rebecca, learning more about Soundabout’s work and approach. I loved that people were coming to the stall to talk about their loved ones that have a passion for sound making, especially as their friends and family were thinking of them whilst at work or going to their own appointments. Hopefully our leaflets made it home to some new Soundabouters!”
