Soundabout is a small charity with large ambitions. We aim to engage with people with severe or profound learning disabilities all across the UK through musical interaction to enable them to have a voice and way to communicate. Support from volunteers is vital to help us continue our life-changing work. Volunteering can be very rewarding in so many ways from meeting new people, gaining skills or to just giving your time to a great cause.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of an organisation like Soundabout, whether assisting in the music-sessions, running fundraising events or marketing and project-based work. By selflessly giving up their time and skill to make music change lives, they help us to reach many more people with profound and multiple learning disabilities than would otherwise be possible.”
We have a range of exciting volunteering opportunities available to people of all capabilities and backgrounds. If you cannot find anything suitable, please still contact us through the form below as there are always other ways you can support us.
*Please note that due to the current Covid situation, all volunteering roles will be virtual for the foreseeable future. Please contact our volunteer manager Philippa Higginbottom (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss this and how roles may differ as a result.*
Here’s some background from two of our volunteers on why they joined us and their respective roles, plus the enjoyment and fulfilment they get from being part of the Soundabout family:
